Grace Sun (she/her) (@whengracecreates) is an interdisciplinary artist and projection designer based in Toronto, navigating the intersection of creative technology, movement, and other art forms. Her movement and creative tech explorations are informed by her years of experience as a dancer and choreographer. Through her practice, she aims to create and explore a symbiotic relationship between performer and technology, questioning how they affect and control each other. Inspired by her experiences navigating identity, culture and community as a queer first-generation Chinese Canadian woman, she embraces creating from a space of uncertainty, curiosity, and in-between.
She primarily works in interactive projection design and live VJ-ing, bringing her expertise to theatre, film and exhibit design. Her work has been exhibited at local and international exhibitions including Long Winter @ Geary Art Crawl, Seasonal Activities (Frog in Hand), Vector Festival 2025 (InterAccess), NYE Art and Dance Party (MakeRoomInc x Loveu4ever @ Illuminarium), SeenTO Festival 2026, Phantasia 2025, Emergence, and NE2 Gallery Squared. Online, Grace shares her process and work through Instagram and TikTok (@whengracecreates), garnering over 800,000 views in the past year. On a larger scale, she co-directs the art collective Confluence with dancer Zoë Guthrie, producing community activations, theatrical productions and film productions at the intersection of creative technology and dance.
